Community invited to celebrate grand opening in Downtown Athens

Up to 100 guests to earn free year of Chick-fil-A meals by participating in unique Scavenger Hunt

ATHENS, Ga. (Nov. 5, 2018) – Veteran Chick-fil-A Franchise Owner Shane Todd will open the chain’s newest Athens restaurant on Nov. 5, bringing a new design that makes it easier for customers on the go to find the handcrafted food and award-winning customer service they’ve come to expect.

Designed for urban locations where land is at a premium and pedestrian traffic is high, Chick-fil-A’s in-line restaurant concept is coming to Athens for the first time with the Nov. 5 opening at 101 College Ave. Instead of a stand-alone building which Chick-fil-A typically builds in more suburban settings, the in-line restaurant is a better fit for the customers of a more urban location, offering some of Chick-fil-A’s most craveable menu choices served with genuine hospitality in a restaurant setting that keeps a more pedestrian demographic is mind.

While the restaurant may look different from others in Athens, Todd’s long-held commitment to mentoring his newly hired 65 Team Members and having a positive impact on the community they serve remains unchanged. Todd is inviting residents to join in the opening festivities at his new restaurant by participating in a community celebration on Nov. 2, featuring Chick-fil-A’s First 100 Scavenger Hunt experience that embodies a 15-year Chick-fil-A tradition of community engagement. Chick-fil-A’s First 100 event will have given away more than $36 million through year-end 2018.

About Operator Shane Todd

Athens native Todd was first introduced to Chick-fil-A as a young boy when he would visit the Georgia Square Mall location with his family. In 1993, after graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in accounting, Todd spent a year working for the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, making sure to pick up his daily chicken biscuit from Peachtree Center Chick-fil-A location on his way to work. After reading Chick-fil-A Founder S. Truett Cathy’s book, “It’s Easier to Succeed Than to Fail,” Todd knew he wanted to continue that legacy and inspire those around him.

Todd began as a Team Member at the Chick-fil-A Dwarf House in 1994 where he worked for two years before his dream of owning his own Chick-fil-A was realized in 1996 when he was selected to Operate the North Hills Mall location in Raleigh, N.C. Nearly three years later, Todd found himself back home in Athens as the new Operator of Chick-fil-A in Beechwood. Today, in addition to the new Athens In-Line location, he continues to operate the Chick-fil-A at Barnett Shoals and is an Operator consultant to the University of Georgia Tate Student Center licensee location. In addition to mentoring 12 future Chick-fil-A franchise owners and another 20 who now work at the chain’s corporate offices, Todd has earned four Symbol of Success Awards – the company’s highest honor for its Operators – and the company’s Champions Club award for outstanding sales increases. He and his wife, Carri Leigh, and their three children, Sam, Will and Leila, are thrilled to continue serving the Athens community.
